My Favorite Books

While I haven’t been extremely into reading for the vast majority of my life I have come across some books that have a permanent place in my heart. While most of these are ones that many people love and enjoy, there is a one that isn’t well known.

Top 3:

Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Entwined by Heather Dixon

Now I read whenever I have time. It was increasingly difficult while trying to finish my college education but I still managed to do it.

Harry Potter Series
Growing up my parents were the ones that actually read the books, I listened to them. I have many fond memories of listening to the world of Harry Potter come alive around me while driving across the country to visit my grandparents. I absolutely love the movies, everything about the world of Harry Potter makes me a very happy fangirl. If you haven’t guessed by the name of my blog, I am a Ravenclaw. I feel like I sound like a broken record because everyone says this, but if you haven’t read these books I really suggest it. You learn about friendships and how choices you make can affect those around you. I loved growing up reading about Harry and Hermione and Ron.

All the Light We Cannot See
So this book is only favorites for many reasons. This book is also attached to memories for me. It was the book I started reading while flying alone for the first time. Flying has never been something I’ve enjoyed but this book helped me escape from my anxiety. It’s a historical fiction book based in World War II. The characters in this story are so captivating that I couldn’t put this story down. My favorite character is Werner. He’s so determined to live a better life, and has an internal conflict with himself as his friend is put through punishments. One of the most beautiful writings I’ve ever read comes from this book.

My Review

I feel like not many people know about this book and they should. It’s a fairy-tale retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses. I hadn’t realized when I read this book the first time that I was reading it so quickly. It’s so easy to get captivated by this book and the sisters who it revolves around. The main character Azalea, the eldest daughter, has to cope with the passing of her mother as well as making sure her little sisters are taken care of because the King is not involved much with them. The world that is written around the girls as they try to find happiness in such a depressing time is magical.
